Building application
The building application is a form that you must send to your local authority before you can build, extend or demolish a building. Even if you want to change the intended use of a building, you often need explicit permission to do so. This is to prevent people from building on a whim.
In addition to the application, a few other documents must also be submitted for the application:
the site plan
the construction drawing
the description of the building including technical details
the calculation of living and usable area
information on development, water supply and drainage
fire protection, heat protection and statics certificates and the like
and more
You can obtain the building application from your local building authority. However, the application may only be submitted by a person authorized to submit building documents (e.g. property developers, architects, civil engineers, etc.). They will also ensure that the above-mentioned documents are all correct and complete.
